Pass or Purchase? My March Play! by Sephora Box Product Review

Hazel Darling > Beauty > Makeup and Skincare > Pass or Purchase? My March Play! by Sephora Box Product Review

Guys, I got it! I FINALLY GOT IT!!!! After being on their waiting list for a couple of months, I was finally added to the subscription Play! by Sephora box. It is a monthly subscription where you receive makeup samples for only $10 a month and is AMAZING! (hence the waiting list) When my box came, it seriously felt like Christmas! I really enjoy trying out new products, so I wanted to share what I thought about each sample with you and let you know whether you should PASS or PURCHASE!

Here we go! I have linked all the samples I received in my box in a widget at the bottom of the post. Check it out!

The first thing I pulled out of my wonderful Sephora box was the GlamGlow Glowstarter Illuminating Moisturizer (a.k.a. glotion) in the tint Nude Glow.

March Play! by Sephora Box

I really liked this moisturizer. It definitely gives you a glow when you put it on, and smells like orange creamsicles (YUMMY!!!!) I found it really useful for the mornings I didn’t feel like putting all my makeup on, or when I woke up late and had to get ready in two seconds!

I did notice that when I would put my BB cream on over it, it seemed to disappear and do nothing. Also, it didn’t have SPF so I was still putting my other lotion on as well. Even though I really like the product I found myself thinking it was an unnecessary step in my everyday morning routine.

Like I said though…. when you’re running late, this is da BOMB! And it smells good, and it is moisturizing…. It is kind of a pricey product though ($49).  Personally, even though I loved this product I didn’t feel that it was completely necessary on a daily basis…. sooooo I’m going to say PASS!

The next product I pulled out was the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in the color Golden Pink.

Ok, I want to start out by saying I LOVE THE COLOR!!!! It is so beautiful and shimmery, and is perfect for my eye color. (Sorry I don’t have a picture of it on me….I’ll be better in the future. I PROMISE!)

This is a waterproof eyeshadow, and I was surprised at how well it worked! You put a little bit on your eyelid, then take your finger and blend it out. I felt that a thin layer looked funny and sparse, so I would put more on. This does leave your lids feeling kinda gummy, so I would set it with a little bit of powder eyeshadow and my setting powder.

Toward the end of my day wearing this, I do notice it looks splotchy maybe????? I can’t think of how to describe it, but it just ain’t right! I’m not knocking this product though…. Maybe a different eyelid primer would work better.

It is a super easy and mess free product, has BEAUTIFUL color and pigment…. I’m going to say PURCHASE! Even though it fudged a little toward the end of the day, it was nothing a little finger blending couldn’t fix! I say it is definitely worth trying at least once!

Next is the Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm.

March Play! by Sephora Box

This product I was a little unsure about at first… It has a weird rubbery texture, and felt a little oily putting it on my face…but I was impressed at how fast it soaked in! And I did feel like it was very moisturizing. Love that!

You can use this product as a primer or an illuminator to give yourself a healthy glow. I do have to say it is not my favorite primer… and I didn’t feel that it helped keep my makeup in place AT ALL…

I did, however, enjoy highlighting with it after my makeup was set by dabbing it on. It truly felt like it gave me a natural glow!

Not my favorite product, so I will spare you the $36 and say PASS!

Next is Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter in Radiant Finish!

March Play! by Sephora Box

I really really REALLY loved this product!

This cream-to-powder highlighter is so EASY to use. You just swipe it on (using small strokes) and then blend with your finger! I was impressed with how well it blends out! There is a slight shimmer to it, and it is VERY illuminating.

I like putting it on my cheek bones, then taking it up in a C shape around my eye to define my bone structure.

Pass or purchase? I would without a doubt say PURCHASE! I will definitely be using the rest of my sample, and look at purchasing more in the future.

The next product (I WAS SO EXCITED TO TRY) is the Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast.

March Play! by Sephora Box

Ok….I have thick hair….like so thick that I can barely get it in a ponytail. Because of my blessed head of hair I don’t have too many issues with volume, and I still loved this product!!

I found that it helped me the most when I was hitting those “I really need to wash my hair but don’t have time right now” days. It has oil absorbing properties which made it a type of dry shampoo. Also, on those days I did feel that it also added volume and much needed texture to my hair.

I imagine if you have trouble getting volume in your hair this would be a great product for you! It is super easy and simple to use, you just spray it on and tousle! I would definitely say PURCHASE this product!

Last but not least in my Sephora box is the Chloe Fleur de Parfum!

March Play! by Sephora Box

I already have a perfume scent I LOVE! (La vie est belle by Lancome), but it was fun to mix it up and try something new!

This is a fresh floral scented perfume. I’m not sure what to say about it….. it’s not offensive in any way? Haha! I didn’t hate the smell, but once again I already have a perfume that I love, and this did not top it.

If you like fresh floral though I would recommend going to Ulta or Sephora and trying a sample! I am going to PASS on this one though…

I really enjoyed the products I received in this first month of my Play! by Sephora box subscription. Keep an eye out for a future review of the Sephora box subscription vs. the Ipsy bag subscription. Also, if you have used one of these products before I would LOVE to know what you think about it. Drop me a comment below!

Thanks for joining me today, and be sure you subscribe to my email list for more fun stuff!

xo, Adri
